South China Morning Post: Put classical music in the hearts of Hong Kong children, minister urges

“I think music education, particularly classical music education, is truly important  … if we would like to establish Hong Kong as one of the leading cultural cities in the region. But we do still face a challenge in encouraging parents to see the inner value of music in itself and not as the pursuit of, for example, a certificate for getting into certain schools,” says Florence Hui, undersecretary of Home Affairs, at a panel held by non profit Music for Community.

《舒舒舒…舒伯特!》是「一個集音樂、舞蹈、視覺藝術和戲劇的燦爛舞台劇」,由註冊慈善藝術機構 Music for Community(MfC)製作。該機構致力以別樹一格的形式,將古典音樂帶入社區,特別是引介給年青的觀眾。雖為學生導向的音樂會,它富有教育性之餘,又不失藝術上的格調,是不俗的嘗試。

Asia Society: Staging of "Finding Alice"

The afternoon children's concert, held at 5pm was opened by Ms. Florence Hui, Under Secretary for Home Affairs of the Hong Kong SAR Government. Narrated in Cantonese, the concert was attended by a full-house audience of young people and their families invited through NGOs including Po Leung Kuk, New Home Association, The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, and Hong Chi Association. 

"That was quite lovely ... it makes me miss concerts in parks — there are just so few venues in Hong Kong that are intimate with a garden backdrop," commented one Asia Society member.
